I’m a very open-minded, caring, down-to-earth person. I believe that every single one of us can benefit from having someone in our lives with whom we can share ourselves, someone who is non-judgmental and easy to talk to.
I started out as a substance abuse counselor in 1977. I began training with Patrick Carnes, Ph.D., in sex addiction in the 1990's and became a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist in 2002. Working with clients who are dealing with sex addiction is my primary area of clinical specialization. I work with individuals only - addicts or their partners. I support their individual recovery, as well as helping them work through their own pain, shame, and betrayal issues.
I have been in codependence recovery since April 25, 1987 and was the former Executive Director of the National Council on Codependence. As a result of my own individual growth as well as my professional experience, I have found the therapy process to be invaluable in helping people find their true selves, create healthy, loving relationships, and, ideally, achieve inner peace.
